Privacy Policy

This notice explains how personal information is handled when the DianDrive website is used, when the sign up form is submitted and when an auto insurance quote or policy is prepared as a result.

It applies to this site and to the messages sent in reply to a request made through it. It does not cover the separate privacy practices of an insurer that issues a policy, which publishes its own notice.

Only what is needed to prepare a quote and manage an account is collected:

• Name, email address and phone number as entered on the sign up or contact form
• Vehicle details such as year, make, model and where the vehicle is kept overnight
• Details of the drivers in the household, including licence status and driving history where it is relevant to a quote
• Yearly mileage and the way the vehicle is used
• Account information such as the password chosen at sign up, which is stored in a protected form
• Basic technical information about the visit, such as browser type and pages viewed

Personal information is used for the purposes it was given for and for nothing beyond them:

• Preparing a written comparison of coverage options for a specific vehicle
• Answering questions about a quote, an issued policy or a change during the term
• Passing the details needed to an insurer so that a policy can be quoted or issued
• Sending service messages such as quote confirmations, policy reminders and renewal notices
• Sending marketing messages where that separate consent was given at sign up
• Keeping the site secure and improving how it works

Consent to receive text messages is given separately from consent to receive marketing text messages, and neither is a condition of getting a quote. Each can be withdrawn on its own.

Replying STOP to a message ends further messages of that type, and replying HELP requests assistance. Message frequency may vary and standard message and data rates may apply. Phone numbers collected for service messages are not sold or shared for anyone else's marketing.

The site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep pages working correctly and to understand which pages get read. This measurement is aggregated and is not used to build a personal profile.

Most browsers allow cookies to be blocked or removed. Blocking them may affect parts of the site that rely on remembering a session.

Personal information is shared only where it is necessary:

• With insurers and underwriters, so that a quote can be prepared or a policy issued
• With service providers that host the site or deliver email and text messages on request
• Where the law, a regulator or a valid legal process requires disclosure
• Where sharing is needed to establish or defend a legal claim

It is not sold, rented or traded, and it is not shared so that another company can market to you.

Quote and policy records are kept for as long as the relationship lasts and afterwards for the period that insurance and tax rules require. Information from a quote that never became a policy is kept for a shorter period and then removed.

Account records are removed on request unless a legal obligation requires them to be retained.

Access is limited to what is needed to run the service. Information moves over encrypted connections, passwords are stored in a protected form, and files are held on systems that require authentication.

No system connected to the internet can be described as perfectly secure, and any suspected exposure of an account should be reported through the contact details below so it can be closed off.

You can ask for a copy of the information held about you, ask for a correction, withdraw a messaging consent or ask for an account to be removed. Requests are answered within the period the applicable law allows.

Withdrawing a marketing consent does not affect the service messages needed to run an active policy, and those can be stopped separately.

This site is meant for adults arranging insurance for their own vehicles. Information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18, and anything received from a minor is deleted once it is identified.

Pages on this site may link to insurers, state resources or other outside services. Once one of those links is followed, the privacy notice of that service applies instead of this one, and its practices are outside the control of DianDrive.

This notice is revised when the service changes or when the law requires it. The version published on this page is the one in effect, and the date shown at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.
